The Perry’s originated in Virginia. Jerry was born about 1834 in Virginia. An ex-slave, he was the progenitor. According to father Jerry's story, he took the Perry name of his slave-master.
Jerry Perry Sr. married a woman named America. To this union, one son was born: Michael (in Alabama). Jerry Perry, Sr. was given, or traded to, a Mr. Gude Watkins who brought him and his son (Michael) to Mississippi, leaving his wife America.
When Jerry, Sr. (first generation) came to Mississippi, he married a woman named Annette. To this union three sons were born: Steven, Warren and Jerry Jr., (second generation, the younger brothers of Michael (Mike), who
was the oldest son of Jerry Perry, Sr. Steven, Warren and Jerry, the younger brothers of Michael, were raised in
Monroe County in a section called the Mississippi Delta.
Steven's children were known as Jane, Rosie, Zona, Elizabeth, Annie, Pearl, Clarence, Eddie,
William and Robert. Annie Young was Steven's wife. Warren's wife is not known but there were two children named Bill and Millie Miller who lived in East St. Louis, Illinois, when this document was first compiled. Jerry, Jr. had three children: Cliff, Floyd and Viola.
Michael (Mike) Perry (second generation) married into the Launce Family. Serena Launce was his wife, (Serena's parents were John and Mary Launce). Michael (Mike) Perry married Serena Launce and to union ten children were born (third generation): Sandy, Willie, America, Rebecca,
Anthony, Lucy Ann, Samuel, John H., Esau and Jacob.
